Denmark's installed offshore wind capacity grew by 12 percent in 2025, according to figures published by the national grid operator Energinet.

Across the full year, wind generation supplied a record share of the country's electricity. On several windy days in the autumn, output exceeded domestic demand and the surplus was exported to neighbouring grids.

Balancing a windier grid

The operator said the larger share of variable generation has placed a premium on flexibility — battery storage, cross-border interconnectors and demand that can shift to windy periods.
