What this policy covers
This policy explains what data we collect when you visit news-unlimited.com or any site in the News Unlimited network, how we use it, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We collect very little data. We do not use advertising trackers, profiling tools, or third-party analytics that follow you across the web.
Data we collect
Website analytics
We use Vercel Analytics to understand how our sites are used. Vercel Analytics does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across different websites. The data we see is aggregated and anonymised — we can see that a page was visited, but not by whom.
No personal data is processed for analytics purposes.
Link clicks
When we share our own articles — on social media, in our newsletter, or in emails — we often use short links on our own domains, such as go.news-unlimited.com. If you follow one, we record that a click happened before sending you on to the article. We store which link was followed and when, the domain of the site you came from, the country reported by our hosting provider, and a broad browser category such as Chrome or Safari.
We do not store IP addresses, full browser identifiers, cookies, or anything else that could identify you or connect one click to another. These are counts, not profiles — we use them only to see which channels our readers arrive from. Detailed records are deleted after 90 days, after which only daily totals remain. No personal data is processed for this purpose.
Contact enquiries
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and any information you include in your message. We use this only to respond to your enquiry and do not retain it beyond what is necessary for that purpose.
Cookies
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our sites may set strictly necessary technical cookies — for example, to maintain a browsing session — but these do not identify you personally and do not require your consent under applicable law.
Your rights under GDPR
As a person whose data we hold, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data
- Restriction — ask us to limit how we use your data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Object — object to our processing of your data
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
