Nordic Tech Salary Index
A recurring index of technology salaries across the Nordics — currently seeded with public salary-research data ahead of News Unlimited's first proprietary survey.
- Software engineers in Denmark earn an average base salary of around 490,000 DKK a year; data scientists average around 550,000 DKK, and product managers/owners around 575,000 DKK, according to PayScale's 2026 Denmark salary data.
- Copenhagen commands a premium over the national average across all three roles, typically 5–10%, per Glassdoor and ERI compensation data.
- IDA's 2025 lønstatistik found average nominal salary growth of 5.0% among privately employed engineering and STEM members — the closest available proxy for tech-sector wage growth until NU's own survey establishes a role-specific baseline.
The Nordic Tech Salary Index tracks how much technology professionals in Denmark earn, role by role. This first edition is seeded from publicly available salary-research sources while News Unlimited's own first-party Nordic tech-worker survey is in the field. Once results are in, these figures will be replaced with primary data and the index will begin tracking genuine year-over-year change.
| Role | Average base salary (DKK) | YoY % |
|---|---|---|
| Software Engineer | 490,000 | n/a — baseline year |
| Data Scientist | 550,000 | n/a — baseline year |
| Product Manager | 575,000 | n/a — baseline year |
The figures above come from third-party compensation-research platforms rather than an NU survey; full sourcing is listed below. This page will be updated with first-party data once the Nordic tech-worker survey closes, at which point year-over-year change will become meaningful.
Methodology
Current figures are seeded from third-party compensation-research platforms (PayScale, Glassdoor, ERI SalaryExpert) and IDA's 2025 lønstatistik, not from a first-party NU survey. Planned methodology going forward: a first-party survey of ~100 Nordic technology workers conducted via Typeform, with respondents self-reporting base salary by role and seniority; medians will be reported where n≥5. Currency: DKK. This page will be updated with first-party data and true year-over-year figures once the survey closes.
